Frequently Asked Questions

Why, thanks for asking. Read on for our best, quick reply.

I have a story that I think would make a great Dirtbag Diaries episode. Want to hear it?

Rad. We’d love to hear it! Please check out our submission guidelines.

My company wants to sponsor the Dirtbag Diaries. What kinds of sponsorship opportunities do you offer?

We treat our sponsorship a little differently than a lot of other podcasts. In general, we develop long-term relationships with sponsors that align with our values. We usually ask for a full year (24 episode) commitment.

For 2021, our yearly sponsorship family is full. We do have rotating sponsor slots available in 2021, which can be for 2-6 months. If you have further questions, please email editor at duct tape then beer dot com, and let’s find a time to get on the phone and chat more about specifics.

I want to start my own outdoor podcast, what advice do you have?

This is the best advice we have.

In all seriousness, though, Transom.org is the best resource we’ve found for all things audio storytelling, including up-to-date, reliable audio gear and software reviews. (We use a Zoom H4N-Pro Recorder, a Rode NTG-2 condenser shotgun mic and Sony MDR-7506 headphones).

If you really want to make the leap into audio storytelling, we highly recommend one of Transom’s Workshops.

TheAudacitytoPodcast.com is also a great resource for the nuts and bolts of getting started.

I just launched an event/product/business/podcast/book/film/Kickstarter, will you promote it on the show?

Unfortunately, no. We receive hundreds of requests like this each year from people who have committed a ton of time and love to things we care about a lot. And it’s rad to hear what folks are up to, however, our commitment is to story above all else. Occasionally, an episode will promote a product/event/organization organically (like If You Build It or Home Front), but with a primary focus on a personal story.

Please, feel free to promote your project on our Fans of the Dirtbag Diaries Facebook page.

And if you feel like your story might work as a Feature, please check out our pitch guidelines.

Are you hiring? Do you ever take on interns?

We occasionally have job openings and internship opportunities. We list our current openings on the Duct Tape Then Beer website.

I’m a musician, do you want to use my music on the Dirtbag Diaries?

We have a limited budget for our Dirtbag Diaries music. If you just want to send us your music to add in our library free of charge as a way to support the show or get your name out there, rad. Please send us a note, and upload mp3 files here.
